On September 27 and 28 of the present year, the Ministry of Energy and Water convened the 12th Advisory Council of MINEA at the Auditorium of the Catholic Church “Dom Armando Amaral dos Santos” in the province of Benguela. The theme of the event was “Energy and Water: Towards Expansion and Enhancement of Service Quality.”
During the inaugural session, His Excellency, the Governor of the Province of Benguela, Luís Manuel da Fonseca Nunes, warmly welcomed the participants, expressed gratitude for selecting the province as the event venue, and pledged cooperation to address the needs of the population. This commitment extends to the implementation of new investment projects to accommodate the region’s growth.
The Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, conveyed appreciation for the collaboration with the Government of the Province of Benguela. He highlighted the importance of attracting investments and fostering public-private partnerships. The Minister also emphasized the necessity of adjusting market models, tariffs, and ensuring the sustainability of public enterprises. Improving revenue collection and reducing costs were underscored as significant aspects of this process.
The event aimed to evaluate adherence to the recommendations of the 11th Advisory Council, covering areas such as the assessment of the Sector Action Plan 2018-2022, market models, tariff efficiency, sustainability of companies, and the presentation of the Sector Action Plan for the period 2023-2027.
Parallel activities included visits to the Biópio photovoltaic plant and the inauguration of the ENDE Regional Dispatch Center in the municipality of Lobito, Benguela province, aligning with the strategy for technological evolution in distribution services.
During the inauguration ceremony, João Baptista Borges highlighted the center’s significance for the efficiency of the National Electricity Distribution Company. The Minister demonstrated solidarity by donating a three-wheeled motorcycle to José André, a 30-year-old with physical disabilities.
The event witnessed the participation of local authorities, representatives from various provinces and ministries, board members of sector companies, partners, guests, and other virtual participants, totaling 224 attendees.
